Ramez Toubassy is responsible for overseeing the firm’s Brand practice, managing the acquisition, turnaround and sale of intellectual property assets, as well as providing valuation expertise for their appraisal.
Having spent most of his career focused on maximising the value of consumer brands, Ramez has a unique background that blends the art and science inherent in identifying and commercialising intellectual property.
Prior to joining Gordon Brothers, Ramez was the Founding Partner of Blast-Off Brands, a diversified brand management platform based in Los Angeles. At Blast-Off Brands, he was involved in several high profile branding and licensing projects, most notably serving as the Interim President of the Life is Good lifestyle brand and as the exclusive global licensing agent for Kodak.
Before forming Blast-Off Brands, Ramez spent over a decade leading Brand Sense Partners, a top global branding and licensing agency, most of that time serving as its President & CEO. At Brand Sense, Ramez worked with a variety of fashion and retail companies, including Ron Herman, Nordstrom, Target, Hudson’s Bay Company, Quiksilver, House of Fraser, Splendid and Kenneth Cole, as well as with several celebrities and hard goods companies. He also drove the brand acquisition efforts for Brand Sense and at various times served as interim CEO of portfolio companies, Shabby Chic and the award winning surf brand M.Nii. Earlier in his career, Ramez held various Business Development & Licensing, Principal and Advisory roles at Indian Motorcycle Company, Evolution Global Partners, Deutsche Bank and PwC.
Ramez holds an MBA from Stanford University and a BA in economics from Pomona College and is a member of the Young Presidents’ Organization (“YPO”).
